The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Abby Repositioned For Growth – Ashley’s Ascendance Aids Daughter

Abby (Melissa Ordway) did all that her father asked on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Meanwhile, her flighty older sister allowed Brash and Sassy to flounder until it folded. Despite Victor’s reluctance to see his second-born daughter as an equal to Vickie (Amelia Heinle), Abby’s loyalty and persistence paid off.

As Y&R viewers recall, Abby was the only Newman heir to stand with her father while both of her other siblings were gone. Nick (Joshua Morrow) exited the building years ago. Vickie, well, she’s used Newman’s corporate building like a convenience store. Victor lets her come and go as she pleases and this time it cost him.

When it suits her fancy, Queen Victoria will grace the family company with her presence. Such was the attitude Abby faced upon Vickie’s latest appearance. Victor’s second-born daughter rightly felt slighted by the choice her father made, but unlike Vickie’s many past whimsical decisions, didn’t quit and run off. That professional patience proved wise.

How fitting that Abby found the goods in her uncle Jack’s (Peter Bergman) living room desk drawer. The evidence of his kooky scheme to frame Ashley, including phone records of him constantly talking to Vickie, buried Her Highness.

Oh, the look on Abby’s face before Vickie entered their father’s office! Victor told the daughter, who’d dropped to number 2 on the depth chart, that she could either accept a demotion, or resign.

Abby aided her mother by giving Victor the truth. Having Ashley become a key player at Newman Enterprises should prove very helpful. Not only has Abby gained a unique ally, she’s also proven to her dad that his view of Vickie was far too rose-colored.

Vickie will always be Victor’s first child. But her actions removed her from the favored child spot. While it’s still a stretch to believe that Abby will actually take over for Victor someday, instead of Vickie, odds of that option have now improved. However, Victor is now more prone to allow Abby to grow.
