The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Victor Fears Albert Miller Is Jack’s Father – Abbott Becomes New Man

Victor (Eric Braeden) has long detested Jack (Peter Bergman) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. That rancor may have always existed because both men are half-brothers. Yes, the father of all reveals is being implied.

A decade’s old black and white photograph may hold the key to Jack Abbott’s paternity mystery. If confirmed, Jack will become a new man, but not a Newman. That play on words deserves a brief explanation and tie-in to the current storyline.

Christian Miller was abandoned by his biological father. His mother, Cora Miller (Dorothy McGuire), was a good soul. She was unable to care for the two sons, which included Matthew (Robert Parucha), she had with Albert Miller (as played by the late, great George Kennedy). Cora took her young boys to an orphanage where they lived for many years.

Christian made a new life for himself as an adult, while Matt became a side character who is rarely seen. The character Braeden was cast to play in 1980 had legally changed his name to Victor (meaning victorious) and Newman (meaning new man). And thus a soapy backstory was born.

Full brothers? Probably not, as Dina (Marla Adams) is within ten years of Victor. But it’s now plausible that Victor and Jack are biologically related through Albert, who apparently is seen in a photo the ‘Moustache’ gains knowledge of.

The potential for what would arguably be the greatest re-imagining in Y&R history exists because Dina claimed earlier this year that John (Jerry Douglas) was not Jack’s father. Two DNA tests failed to pair Jack’s sample with Traci’s (Beth Maitland) and Billy’s (Jason Thompson), which implied that Bergman’s character wasn’t a blood Abbott.

Y&R surely must be considering the sustained, passioned response seasoned viewers, who are the heart of the fan base, would offer if Jack is actually confirmed as being Victor’s little brother. Of course, more recently devoted fans would likely be prodded by this change as well. But soap is about drama, which even the potential of this storyline teases.
