Savvy fans of this site know that Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea) is leaving the cast of ‘The Young and the Restless’. That news means Nick (Joshua Morrow) will be single, like Sharon (Sharon Case), and so the framework for ‘Shick’ to be revived has been established. It’s understood that the increased possibility of this old school couple reunion will provoke dramatic responses from certain segments of Y&R’s viewing audience.
It’s unknown at this point how Egan’s has or will impact the Adam (most recently played by Justin Hartley) character. Michael Muhney supporters had believed, understandably, that recent references to Adam and the actor’s unusual two-plus month absence from social media meant that he could be returning to Y&R.

In the meantime, the lead-in to Chelsea’s write-out must include some resolution of the Christian (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen) issue that’s been a revived tease since last year. As viewers recall, Victor’s (Eric Braeden) odd mention of Adam’s “sons” provoked natural speculation regarding a recast of that character.

It could well be that there haven’t been and aren’t plans to bring Adam back, but that all recent references to the character Hartley last played in September 2016 have simply been setups for Chelsea’s climax. Assuming that might be the case, Y&R could follow the Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) storyline example.
Daytime devotees recall that Hendrickson reprised her role, which served to close the book on Adam’s apparent murder mystery last year. Chloe returned to town and later admitted to having killed Adam.
Chloe believes that to be true, whether it is or not. However, Y&R did tie up that part of what had been an open part to its storyline as fans learned, for the first time, who Adam’s apparent killer was. Chloe was suspected as his obvious assailant, but hadn’t been confirmed as such until an invented flashback sequence was shown.
No flashback would be necessary in Chelsea’s situation. Instead, Nick would simply somehow come to know that he’s not Christian’s father. Chelsea might flee town after that reveal drops, or appear to die as her husband did, among other possibilities.

With whatever happens, Nick will be alone and vulnerable. Having become wise to Scott’s (Daniel Hall) game through her ex-husband’s tip-off, Sharon will be fully willing to offer Nick her shoulder. And that’s how the next version of ‘Shick’ will officially start.
