‘The Young and the Restless’ (YR) Poll: Will Victor Look The Other Way? – Nikki and Arturo Okay’d?

In days gone by, Victor (Eric Braeden) would have been furious on ‘The Young and the Restless’. But ‘Niktor’s’ modern arrangement enables a questioned to be begged. Will Victor look the other way when he learns that Arturo (Jason Canela) is conducting personal business with Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott)?

What? Wait! Victor will never, ever in a billion years look the other way when he finds out that Arturo, the Rainbow Gardens contractor, is also handling Nikki. Well, he won’t live a billion years son. Secondly, take a step back and consider what the ‘Moustache’s’ might be right now, verses in past instances.

Victor knowingly agreed to recouple with Nikki. Their negotiated agreement, made in the living room at the Ranch, was different than how past spats, or splits were resolved. No lawyers were involved and there actually was no acrimony.

“But he still loves her and will always be jealous!”, many will respond in exclamatory fashion. Of course, but that’s not the point critiquers.

Victor achieved his goal of proper public appearances by having Nikki agree to move back in with him. That’s the status quo he wishes to maintain. So just because he’s projected to turn his gaze away from ‘Narturo’ (which sounds like a dish that’s served at the Top of the Tower…Try the Narturo, it’s incredible!), doesn’t mean that Victor won’t then counteract the in-name-only Mrs. Newman.

Ashley (Eileen Davidson) previously proved to be Nikki’s match. As viewers know, Miss Abbott just bested Nikki’s daughter, Victoria (Amelia Heinle). Tenured viewers haven’t forgotten that Ashley stole Victor’s material to create Abby (Melissa Ordway) all those years ago in both real and soapy time.

So Ashley was a threat to Nikki’s world order. But, tellingly and in a seemingly foreshadowed manner, Nikki gave Ashley the go-ahead to bond with Victor when he inevitably attempts to woo her. That means Victor has the option of calling Nikki’s bluff to gauge his actual one and only true love’s current feelings towards him.

One half of the complex setup that’s been described is happening in Genoa City. Whether ‘Vashley’ develops is yet to be determined, but even if it doesn’t that’s not the poll question.
