The Young and the Restless Poll: Will Hilary Be Written Out of YR Due to Mishael Morgan’s departure?

News of Mishael Morgan’s (Hilary) exit from ‘The Young and the Restless’ stunned the audience. But will this character be written out of the show?

The loss of Morgan will be a blow to what is a strong ensemble. It’s not yet known if Hilary will choose to leave Genoa City voluntarily, go missing as she did in the past, be killed off, or face some other fate. Of course, a recast, which would be risky, could also occur.

Morgan debuted on Y&R in 2013. Initially, Hilary targeted Neil (Kristoff St. John) because she believed he’d left her mother for dead after a night of drinking. Retrospective flashback sequences established Neil’s reimagined past in that instance and also proved his innocence.

As soaps go, Hilary and Neil fell in love. Lily (Christel Khalil), Cane (Daniel Goddard), and Devon (Bryton James) strongly opposed ‘Heil’, but it formed anyway. ‘Hevon’ subsequently pushed Neil and Hilary’s marriage over the cliff, an inside joke that devoted viewers recall.

Morgan’s work with James quickly became must-see TV. Together they created one of the shows best, if not the best couples. That pairing’s passion can be put in the same energetic category as ‘Shadam’, ‘Chadam’, ‘Villy’, ‘Philly’, ‘Lane’, ‘Khloe’, or others based upon one’s subjective take.

‘Hevon’s’ recent rewrite, which took more than a year to play out, felt like the start of this couple’s sequel storyline. In fact, it may have been an open-ended plot path that was purposely intertwined with Morgan’s contract discussions.

While an extension wasn’t reached, fans could choose to remain hopeful that Morgan and Y&R’s back office decision-makers part amicably. Instead of a farewell, Hilary could then return in the relatively near future.

It would seem unusual to definitively remove Hilary from GC. She could somehow choose to leave town, or disappear (again). Killing this character off could always be reversed, as this is soapland. But the aforementioned recast would allow ‘Hevon’s’ storyline to continue as it may have been planned.
