The Young and the Restless (YR) Poll: Will Billy Leave Phyllis For Summer?

Did the headline to this feature on ‘The Young and the Restless’ read ridiculous? No, devoted viewers don’t think so. They know that where Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) and the now-supercharged Summer (Hunter King) are concerned that anything is plausible, including ‘Silly’, or ‘Bummer’.

Wait, their nickname will be ‘Silly’, or ‘Bummer’!? Yes, two tags have been offered for consideration and each is funny.

Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) and Billy went back and forth for awhile. They were paired, split, and repaired. That process included Phyllis leaving Jack (Peter Bergman) and Billy being spurned by Victoria (Amelia Heinle) on countless occasions.

‘Philly’ was initially rejected by a wide swath of fans who mostly wanted to see Billy remain with Vickie. But, as time has passed, various daytime devotees must admit that Tognoni and Thompson are a good duet.

So, King returned from her nighttime ‘Life in Pieces’ schedule this, yes, summer, on Y&R. In order to freshen the character, executive producer and head writer Mal Young told the writing staff to snark Summer up.

Phyllis’ daughter is first shown driving into town in a fast car. That Newman-monied automobile was later seized by the authorities because Summer borrowed it from an ex-boyfriend in Atlanta whose name is Pax. It’s unknown if his name is related to gaming culture festivals, or if this character has or will be cast.

Summer moved back into her Newman-monied condo, where she was allowing Phyllis to live. King’s character didn’t know that the former ‘Red’ formed ‘Philly’, but had no problem flirting with Billy while Tognoni’s character was away. That happened approximately a day after Summer returned to GC.

Billy could simply tell Phyllis what was attempted. But if he doesn’t, seasoned viewers can project an eventual frame and ‘Philly’ split. Yes, Summer has surely discarded Mariah’s (Camryn Grimes) previously apt ‘Snowflake’ tag.
