Young & The Restless

The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Why Did J.T. Become A Monster?

J.T. (Thad Luckinbill) met his apparent end on ‘The Young and the Restless’. The lead-in to his climax was building for weeks. But why do Y&R fans believe that J.T. became a monster?

All subjective questions don’t seek one definitive answer, as opinions will vary. Some topics also intentionally attempt to promote disagreement in order to create sides and then cover public fights. That didn’t appear to be the intent surrounding J.T. and Victoria’s (Amelia Heinle) entanglement. Instead, their personal lives turned into a nightmare to further a storyline and to promote awareness of a societal issue that’s being promoted as topical for varied reasons.

As Y&R viewers were shown via a flashback, J.T. was electrocuted many years ago. That incident caused him to have heart issues which is why he was taking medication. Did his prescription use create side effects that eventually battered his mind?

It’s fair to ask if J.T. was abusing additional drugs in order to deal with pain issues. If that was the case, his will behavior would be explained. Addicts act in reckless ways every day and often damage many lives.

Whether connected to his heart issue or not, was J.T. suffering from a serious, undiagnosed mental health issue? That point began to play out in couple’s therapy. Ongoing sessions could have allowed J.T. to recognize whatever his presumed issue is and then hopefully deal with it while receiving Victoria’s support during that process.

Seasoned Genoa City supporters recall Luckinbill’s first stint. J.T. was a very likable character who grew from a younger person toward a middle-aged man. That development was natural and didn’t portend to him later going off against Victor (Eric Braeden) because of Colleen’s (Tammin Sursok) death. That grudge was inserted into recent dialogue as the driver behind the crimes J.T. committed, at least in Mr. Hellstrom’s mind.

The Walnut Grove reunion was used as a vehicle to briefly rewrite Mackenzie (Kelly Kruger) into the story. Her tale was meant to confirm that J.T. has been acting erratically for a handful of years, thereby supposedly establishing why he’s now lost all control.

There is a clear danger point promoted by Y&R’s choice of storyline. The plot suggests that viewers question their own backstories, which can never be exactly registered in retrospect. But unlike the soapy world, real lives could be impacted when viewers are encouraged to reconsider and relabel the actions of others. Those choices could prove infinitely helpful, yield neutral results or create unjust negative consequences. Though those outcomes will never be shown.

Personality type appears to influence who anyone views the rest of humanity. In this daytime instance, the reasons why J.T. became a monster seem purposely written to encourage the use of opinions and therefore can’t be fully labeled as facts.

Fans of ‘The Young and the Restless’ rightfully express their opinions on a regular basis. So, why did J.T. become a monster?
