The Young and the Restless (YR) Poll: Who Was Most Responsible for Hilary’s Death?

Hilary’s (Mishael Morgan) life ended on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Among those who were involved in this tragedy, Hilary, Lily (Christel Khalil), Charlie (Noah Alexander Gerry), Shauna (Camryn Hamm), Mattie (Lexie Stevenson), or the unseen truck driver, who was most responsible for the scenario that led to the death of this great character? Yes, it was an accident, but human beings freely made choices which caused it.

This unexpected development was fueled by Morgan’s decision to leave the cast as she prepares to deliver her second child. Fictional points aside, all earnest soap fans wish this superb actor and her family the best. Additionally, many also may hope that Morgan and Y&R re-team in the future so that she could fill a new role.

Okay, let’s get to it. One could argue that Hilary was the most responsible for her own demise. If she hadn’t allowed herself to get into this specific argument with Lily at ‘Hevon’s’ penthouse and would have contacted the authorities, instead of running out to find Shauna, Hilary never would have been sitting in the passenger seat of the car when that truck driver broadsided it and her.

Lily followed Charlie as he trailed Shauna. Hilary’s longtime nemesis then allowed Morgan’s character to get in the car as the trio searched for Shauna. Lily was just debating responsibility issues, but put herself into a confined space which she surely knew would remain tense. Then she chose to argue with Hilary, become distracted, and drive straight through that red light.

Charlie didn’t have to respond to Shauna’s text. He didn’t have to go over to visit his girlfriend at ‘Hevon’s’ home, or chase after her later when she left. But he did everything noted, which provoked Lily and Hilary’s trails.

Shauna chose to contact Charlie. She willfully allowed him into ‘Hevon’s’ penthouse when no one else was home, which sparked Lily’s arrival, the argument with Hilary, and led to the accident.

But what if Maddie (Lexie Stevenson) chose to cover for her brother, rather that quickly divulge that he was with Shauna at their uncle Devon’s (Bryton James) place? If this option is chosen, Mattie would be cited for being wrong when she told the truth.

And how about the truck driver? Whoever this person was actually drove the truck into Lily’s vehicle, which caused Hilary’s eventually mortal injuries. Picking this person would tag a driver for being in the wrong when the vehicle being driven rightfully went through a green light.
