Love is a subjective noun on ‘The Young and the Restless’. For some, like Victor (Eric Braeden), it means blind loyalty. For others, like Sharon (Sharon Case), it means trust. In considering all Genoa City players, who needs whatever love means the most in 2018?
While this point will irk some, yes, Victor does deserve love. Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) overreacted to Nick’s (Joshua Morrow) reveal news about Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) earlier this year. Then she purposely ran to Jack (Peter Bergman), her husband’s main nemesis.

However, Mrs. Newman appeared touched by the words her multiple-time husband offered at their New Year’s Eve vow renewal ceremony. Now she must follow through with her offer to love and honor Victor, as she said she would in front of all those regular cast members and extras in the Ranch living room setting.
Sharon has her children’s love. That, more than anything proves she’s handled the challenges various Y&R writing staffs have invented for her since Cassie (Camryn Grimes) died in 2005. But Sharon doesn’t have Scott’s (Daniel Hall) love and may never.
Abby’s (Melissa Ordway) departure from the cast, to care for her adorable new daughter (who was born earlier this month), means that ‘Scabby’ isn’t likely to form anytime soon, unless there’s a temporary recast. However, Sharon’s sudden awareness of Scott’s wandering eye may leave her single once again. Possibly, Case’s character should take an indefinite dating break and focus fully on the love her family gives her instead?
Some may feel that Hilary (Mishael Morgan) doesn’t deserve it, but Devon (Bryton James) does. The seeming resurgence of ‘Hevon’ can allow two people to work on a more mature version of coupling if this sequel happens.
The host of the ‘Hilary Hour’ will have wonderful news for her bees if she and Devon are expecting a daughter, or son sometime in 2018. That greatest expression of love would surely prove engaging.
Lily (Christel Khalil) is being cautious. Cane (Daniel Goddard) still has a ways to go to earn her trust. But if that happens the odds of a ‘Lane’ reunion appear to be good because both halves never stopped loving each other. Both likeable characters are better together than apart and they have two, no, three kids, including Sam, to care for.

There are many other fictional personas that could be cited, but let’s end this feature with good old Jack. He had a mixed year in 2017, though his compassion toward Dina (Marla Adams) revealed who he is inside. A special new lady should be written into Jack’s life and he’s likely to turn around fast.
