So Nick (Joshua Morrow) was gaslighting Victor (Eric Braeden) on ‘The Young and the Restless’ by pretending to be J.T. (Thad Luckinbill). The younger Newman did that in retaliation for the Christian (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen) issue that was seemingly just resolved.
Victor clearly did not have to seek control of Adam’s (Justin Hartley) son, or publicly reveal that Nick is not that boy’s father. He did so in response to Nick having recoiled from the Chief Operating Officer’s slot and again vowing to battle him.
Vickie (Amelia Heinle) was initially enraged to learn that Nick was in line to take the position she believed was hers. Nick had no intention of supplanting his sister after making up with his dad and agreeing to come back to the family fold. His surprise at perceived (real?) manipulation led to the latest father-son fight.
The resultant legal battle over Christian’s custody first saw Victor awarded temporary custody of his grandson. However, the ‘Black Knight’s’ slow recovery from the mini-stroke he suffered at J.T.’s hands factored heavily into the final report a social worker presented to the arbitrator. Nick was awarded custody of Christian as a result.
Nick recently unmasked himself as the presumed resurrected, or never dead man. He was behind the J.T. ruse all along, meaning, apparently, that Luckinbill’s character, be it J.T., or whoever he was playing from December through the spring is dead (supposedly).
The idea that Nick willingly behaved like a villain may evoke sympathy for Victor, except among his hardcore detractors. While the ‘Moustache’ isn’t a saint, he was nearly killed, twice, by J.T. Hellstrom!
Nick is the one who first learned of that fact and virulently defended Victor, claiming to everyone that he would bring to justice the man who attacked his father and abused his sister. Now, GC and its observers learn that Nick was actually employing soapy magic to get back at Victor instead? Wow!
