The Young and the Restless (YR) Poll: Which Man is Jack’s Father?

Jack (Peter Bergman) believes that John (Jerry Douglas) isn’t his father on ‘The Young and the Restless’. It’s possible, as is anything in this soap world. But Y&R’s fans are being pushed for a guess. Who actually is Jack’s dad?

Teasers reveal that Dina (Marla Adams) is about to provide a more detailed answer during May Sweeps. Of course, her forthcoming statement will somehow need to be definitively confirmed. Plus, the issues involving Jack not being related to Traci (Beth Maitland) and Billy (Jason Thompson) must also be addressed.

John is the most likely answer despite all that’s happened in recent weeks. Yes, Dina (Marla Adams) stated that wasn’t the case during one of her glorification, sit-down interview sessions with Abby (Melissa Ordway). But that off-hand comment wasn’t proof, based at least on Dina’s condition.

There are a number of possibilities if Jack isn’t John’s son. Among them would include past characters who’ve been on the show, or were at least referenced.

The dilemma with making Jack the son of a known character involves Bergman’s and, originally Terry Lester’s character’s past romances. Y&R surely wouldn’t stoop so low as to make some man, dead or alive, Jack’s dad if Jack had once slept with a woman who would then turn out to be his sister. Say, someone like Jill (Jess Walton)?

No, all moral fans are betting that won’t happen. Though, Jill’s paternity could then be switched. But that would seem too complicated.

The soapy circle then narrows. If John wasn’t Jack’s father and all various problematic Y&R characters basically can’t be reimagined as this discovered dad, then a much easier fix awaits. Create a character who Dina was involved with that had no ties to Genoa City other than Jack.
