The Young and the Restless (YR) Poll: Should Sharon Marry To Improve Christian’s Custody Odds?

It’s taken more than a decade for fans of ‘The Young and the Restless’ to witness the full repairing of ‘Shick’. While Sharon (Sharon Case) and Nick (Joshua Morrow) got to the altar in the fall of 2014, that reunion attempt was dashed by Phyllis’ (Gina Tognoni) reveal of Summer’s (Hunter King) true paternity. Intriguingly, Sharon is now considering splitting ‘Shick’ due to a separate biological issue that she injected herself into.

The Sully (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen actually playing Christian) secret caused Sharon to withhold knowledge of Nick’s son’s maternity two yeas after the aforementioned Summer paternity reveal went down.

The effects of bipolar disorder played into Sharon’s decisions then and were also cited by the arbitration judge last week as a leading reason why Victor (Eric Braeden) was awarded temporary custody of his grandson.

Nick recently fell back into love with Sharon, a plot point that felt rushed and has now been further reinforced by the storyline that’s developed, which includes his remarriage proposal. While Sharon did welcome Nick back into her home, which was the original ‘Shick’ honeymoon abode, she also later followed with a truly selfless offer.

Responding to Victor’s push for a custody hearing (which has since happened), Sharon told Nick that she should leave him. Doing so would remove anticipated strategy chip that Victor told Michael (Christian Le Blanc) to play.

The arbitration judge came to learn about Sharon’s diagnosis and backstory. That swayed the judge’s opinion in favor of Victor, as the ruling comments revealed.

Sharon is now faced with a dilemma. Accept Nick’s marriage proposal and risk that Nick’s forced choice, ‘Shick’ or Christian, or leave him for an indefinite period which may improve odds that Nick will regain custody of his son.
