The Young and the Restless (YR) Poll: Is Phillip Chancellor Jack’s Real Father?

Peter Bergman stars as Jack Chancellor on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Did that read-write? Well, apparently Y&R thinks it could. Yes, Jack might not be chasing a rabbit down a hole. Instead, Bergman’s character may soon be revealed as Phillip Chancellor’s (played by the late Donnelly Rhodes, who passed away in January) son!

Dina’s (Marla Adams) paternity revelation, which happened during one of Abby’s (Melissa Ordway) interview sessions, scrambled Jack’s already fragile ego. Mr. Whoever he then temporarily transformed into.

So Neil (Kristoff St. John) just so happened to find a box in the reorganized Hamilton Winters Group archives that contained Dina’s handwritten diaries. That was very convenient, but Y&R fans were totally okay with that plot point as it furthered Jack’s reimagined dad search.

Past columns on this leading soap site by various solid writers surveyed available possible fathers for Jack. One of the names referenced was Phillip, because that character was within Dina’s generation, was in Genoa City at the time frame when Jack would have been conceived, and because no unseemly romantic links between other characters would come into play if, in fact, he was eventually confirmed as Jack’s father.

Think about, Jack is a Chancellor. He would morph from the head of Jabot, where he’d been until recently, to an impact player at Chancellor Industries.

Now, connect news that the great Jess Walton (Jill) has been seen on set filming Y&R scenes. She controls CI, which is being run by Cane (Daniel Goddard).

The advanced filming schedule fits with Jack learning that Phillip was his father, which then writes him into indefinite conflict with Jill. More to the point, Jack surely has a legal claim to the place if his DNA matches Phillip’s.

Of course, this could be a storyline red herring. Tenured viewers recall when Katherine (played by the greatest of Y&R’s actors, the late Jeanne Cooper) and Jill briefly believed they were biological mother and daughter. But what if Jack actually is Phillip’s son?!
