The Young and the Restless (YR) News: Mishael Morgan Leaves Y&R – Hilary To Be Recast?

The Young and the Restless spoilers indicate Mishael Morgan (Hilary) was unable to reach a contract agreement with the CBS soap opera. So, she’s leaving the show she called home since 2013.

Fans of the terrific actor will now ask if Hilary is exiting Genoa City, or will Y&R recast this character?

Many viewers likely believe that Morgan became this generation’s Victoria Rowell (Drucilla). A truly great actor whose performances were simply outstanding. Morgan elevated her talent to an even higher level when she was paired with Bryton James (Devon) a few years ago.

The beloved ‘Hevon’ easily ranks with the best romantic pairings during Morgan’s tenure on the show. Together, Morgan and James created an indelible daytime couple that will be long remembered.

Regular viewers know that Y&R is in the process of completing what appears to be a full ‘Hevon’ reunion. Hilary and Devon (Bryton James) recently renewed their interest in each other, agreed to have a baby (with Hilary’s pregnancy being confirmed), and are again sharing the condominium where ‘Hevon’ Part I lived.

The idea of replacing Morgan with another actor would certainly provoke strong reactions. That choice would obviously be risky and could be opted against. If so, Morgan’s cast spot would be filled by a new regular character, or a cast returnee whose presence would be intended to shift the focus away from Morgan’s departure.

It was interesting that Neil (Kristoff St. John) mentioned Dru this week. He did so after purchasing ‘Chadam’s’ penthouse across the hall from Devon and his move-in, Hilary. Neil mentioned that he’d been living in the condo since he and Dru were together. As devoted fans are aware that setting hadn’t been shown in awhile.

Rowell’s character has rarely been referenced since that iconic actor left the cast in 2007. One can never say never regarding an unexpected return, even considering the well-known disagreements that existed between Y&R and Rowell in the past.

Yes, the type of reunion cited can be understandably doubted. But surprises happen in life, as Morgan’s departure reaffirms.
