The Young and the Restless (YR) News: Kristoff St. John Returns to Y&R – Neil Winters is Back

Kristoff St. John (Neil Winters) is returning to work on ‘The Young and the Restless’. The veteran Y&R cast member will be back at work next week after an extended absence.

As soap fans know, St. John suffered the tragic loss of his son, Julian, in 2014. That event impacted him deeply which led to battles with depression. St. John’s openness about his mental health issues and recovery has served as an inspiration.

Viewers last saw Neil in late November. Daytime dramas record episodes six weeks in advance, which means that St. John filmed his most recent scenes in approximately mid-October. His return to work indicates that Neil will reappear in Genoa City in late April.

When last seen, Neil and Devon (Bryton James) were beginning to build the Hamilton Winters Group that they founded. Their growing conglomerate scored a major victory having obtained Dina’s (Marla Adams) company, having began a streaming music division and having just purchased a public relations company that Neil was heading.

Devon later announced that Neil had to leave GC in order to help his youngest son Moses (Dax Randall) after his mother, Sofia (Julia Pace Mitchell), was in a car accident. That plot line did not rewrite the characters mentioned back into the story at that time, but could help to revive this part of Neil’s backstory going forward.

Fans should assume that Neil will take on his PR role, as part of HWG. That part of St. John’s arc was allowing him to play a more prominent role within Newman Enterprises.

Victor (Eric Braeden) fired his entire public relations staff due to a perceived, collective misstep. That veer allowed the storyline to incorporate St. John’s character within Newman, which made sense based upon Neil’s past long tenure as one of Victor’s top executives.

St. John first joined Y&R in 1991. His efforts with co-star Victoria Rowell (Drucilla Winters) proved indelible within Y&R’s history.

All fans obviously wish St. John continued good health. They look forward to seeing his legacy character regularly again as well.
