At the coffeehouse, Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) dodges Rey’s (Jordi Vilasuso) questions about Sharon’s whereabouts. Rey eventually bumps into Arturo (Jason Canela), which leads to a confrontation. Arturo wants Rey gone, but Rey insists that he’s not going anywhere until he gets in touch with their sister. However, Arturo argues that Lola (Sasha Calle) can decide for herself if she wants to chat.
Mariah appears all dolled up for the Dark Horse launch feature. Tessa compliments her but gets a cold response. Mariah eventually excuses herself to work at a table, but Tessa pushes her to share what’s wrong. After Mariah asks if she’s being used, Tessa shuts down the idea. She can’t offer proof since the smugglers’ phone number was blocked, so Mariah takes off.
At the Abbott mansion, Kyle (Michael Mealor) gets a call from Summer (Hunter King). She booked a hotel suite so he can collect his bet winnings later. Afterward, Jack (Peter Bergman) asks Dina (Marla Adams) about the mystery man in the picture. Unfortunately, Dina gets rattled and has to be calmed down by Kyle. Abby pipes up that maybe she could put the pic up on social media and seek some leads.
Back at Dark Horse, Nick tells Arturo he’d like him to come on board as the head of his construction department. Arturo seems reluctant and later tells Abby why. He’s worried about making that commitment with Rey hanging around. Abby contends that Rey shouldn’t get in the way of what Arturo wants, so he ultimately accepts the job.

After Abby makes her way to Dark Horse, she bickers with Mariah a bit. Kyle shows up and drags Mariah off to see what’s up. She admits she confronted Tessa and got a denial. Kyle notes that Mariah still doesn’t believe her. He suggests it’s hard to find out someone you care about is using you and looks in Summer’s direction. Mariah urges Kyle to listen to himself before he gets sucked in again.
Next, Mariah interviews Nick and other crucial guests. It isn’t long until Tessa arrives and demands to talk. They dash off for a private conversation about Mariah’s doubts. Tessa acknowledges the mistakes she’s made in the past but insists Mariah is now the one person she can’t lie to. She argues that she didn’t come back for money or to keep her promise, but because she loves Mariah.
Victor (Eric Braeden) shows up at the launch and manages to offer a few words of praise for Nick, who soon makes his big speech. Rey saunters in and stops all the clapping. He reveals that he’s a detective before placing Nick under arrest.
At the hotel, Summer’s eager to get the ball rolling on her evening with Kyle. He brings up the past, but she’s not interested in discussing it. Summer teases that she can fake emotional attachment if that’s what Kyle needs. He pushes her to put on some lingerie but pretends to be asleep when Summer comes back out.
