The Young and the Restless Spoilers Thursday, August 16: Nick Bribes Summer to Keep Quiet – Lily Fails to Reconnect with Devon

“The Young and the Restless” spoilers for Thursday, August 16, tease that Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) will try to control her daughter. At home, Phyllis tells Summer (Hunter King) that there was no affair. She admits to having sex with Nick (Joshua Morrow) once, but she urges Summer to stay tight-lipped. Phyllis doesn’t want this getting back to Billy (Jason Thompson), but that’s exactly what Summer has in mind.

Both ladies rush over to Jabot, but Gloria (Judith Chapman) insists that Billy’s out of the office. Phyllis and Summer stick around in hopes of speaking with him first. While they wait, they argue about Summer’s personality change. Phyllis doesn’t understand it and she certainly doesn’t approve. She questions how their relationship ended up in such a dark place and asks to hit the reset button.

Summer accuses Phyllis of manipulating her, but suggests she’ll back off if “Philly” can survive the betrayal bomb. Meanwhile, Mariah (Camryn Grimes) discusses the wedding with Nick (Joshua Morrow) before Phyllis catches up with him. She lets him know Summer’s in the loop on their secret, so Nick decides to do something about it.

Back at Jabot, Nick tells Summer what really happened that night and pushes her to keep quiet. Summer doesn’t think Sharon and Nick are meant to be, but Nick insists that he has to protect his relationship. He doesn’t make much progress, so he decides to let his checkbook do the talking. Summer’s surprised by the number Nick comes up with.

At Hamilton-Winters, Cane (Daniel Goddard) approaches Lily (Christel Khalil) and brings up how she’s been shutting him out. Lily feels like it’s time to face the facts. She’s been preparing for prison, so she gives Cane directions on how to handle things at the modeling agency once she’s locked up.

Cane wants to stay positive, but Lily frets about being a mother from behind bars. She starts to cry as Cane embraces her. Devon (Bryton James) eventually appears and doesn’t look happy, but Cane leaves them to chat anyway. He’s undoubtedly hoping they can work through their issues.

Lily hopes the same, but Devon remains harsh with her. He marches over to the door as Lily admits that she misses him. Devon stops for a moment, but eventually heads out anyway. It seems he’s just too angry to forgive Lily’s actions.
