The Young and The Restless Spoilers: Mal Young Teases Chelsea Newman’s Return

The Young and the Restless fans have something exciting to look forward to: it looks like Melissa Claire Egan will be returning after all. As a matter of fact, executive producer and head writer Mal Young is opening up about the return of Chelsea and what viewers can expect to see in the near future.

In a new interview with TV Insider, Mal said that he’s certain that Chelsea will be returning to Genoa City. After all, Chelsea’s exit was left open-ended, in case actress Melissa Claire Egan wanted to reprise her role. And now it looks like the timing couldn’t be more perfect. With Hilary gone, there’s more room to revisit a possible storyline with Chelsea front and center.“

When Missy [Claire Egan, ex-Chelsea] said she wanted to try new things we got the feeling that Chelsea was going off on a little trip and she wasn’t [leaving forever],” Young said. “Missy and I talked about how this isn’t the end of the story.”

The executive producer also pointed out an important detail: Chelsea has Adam’s son, so she still has some ties to Genoa City. After all, he can’t let Connor fade into oblivion as someone needs to carry on Adam’s legacy. This means Chelsea’s comeback might be sooner rather than later. Fingers crossed!
