Devon (Bryton James) gets in touch with the senator and hopes to get Lily’s sentence reduced. He suggests house arrest as another option, so the senator gets to work. Unfortunately, Devon receives bad news later. Despite his best efforts, there was nothing the senator could do.
Mattie (Lexie Stevenson) and Charlie (Noah Alexander Gerry) are understandably upset about Lily’s dilemma. When they visit her, Lily notes that the new facility will be safer. She tearfully bids her family farewell before the guard leads her away.
Over with Ashley (Eileen Davidson), she gets choked up during a conversation with Dina (Marla Adams). Ashley didn’t feel as loved as Jack (Peter Bergman) in the past, but now she sees that her mother cared. She’s grateful for the contract and how it protected her interests.
Next, Jack (Peter Bergman) presents an alternative offer to Ashley. He suggests a raise, royalties and pretty much everything else he can think of – just not the CEO spot. Of course, power is what Ashley really wants. She angrily turns down Jack’s offer and snaps that she won’t be paid off. Ashley thinks Jack’s own power craving has made him willing to destroy Jabot.

Traci (Beth Maitland) doesn’t think any of them should be on the throne at the moment. Nobody’s honoring the legacy that John (Jerry Douglas) wanted. Ashley ends up leaving in tears. She needs to go reflect on all this and decide what she’s going to do.
More Abbott flashbacks feature another glimpse of the past. We see John treating Ashley like his favorite again and pushing Jack to man up over Dina’s departure. John wants Jack to be there for his sisters. In the present, Jack feels like he let Ashley down. He eventually admits to being jealous of the attention his siblings received. It seems that fed their issues, even into adulthood.
Afterward, Ashley reappears with her choice. Since she’s unwilling to budge and Jack’s not backing down either, Ashley only sees one solution. She’s taking her patents and walking away from everything in Genoa City. That includes her family and the company.
