“The Young and the Restless” spoilers for Tuesday, May 29, tease that Victor’s (Eric Braeden) manipulation will cause plenty of drama. At Sharon’s (Sharon Case) place, she learns Nick (Joshua Morrow) is taking the COO position. Sharon expresses concern about Nick getting stuck in Victor and Victoria’s hostility.
Nick feels like he can take care of it, but Sharon still feels the need to warn Victoria later. She mentions Victor handing Nick the COO spot and insists it’s another one of her father’s usual tricks. An outraged Victoria corners Nick and wonders why he’s stealing her position. They bicker about Victoria plotting against Ashley (Eileen Davidson) and costing herself the job.
Victoria argues that her demotion was temporary and she didn’t approve any of this. Nick realizes he was duped, so he marches over to see Victor. He gripes and insists that he’s done. Victor doesn’t think Nick should pass up this one-time chance to take charge. He suggests that Noah (Robert Adamson) or perhaps Christian (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen) will be running the show someday.
Nick snarls that Victor needs to forget about any Christian ideas. He won’t let his son get sucked into Newman chaos. Victor stuns Nick by bringing up Christian’s paternity. He notes that Nick isn’t Christian’s biological father, so this isn’t really up to him. Naturally, Nick takes a stand and points out that Christian’s paternity doesn’t matter. He intends to love and protect the boy as his own.
Meanwhile, Jack (Peter Bergman) has another argument with Ashley and Kyle (Michael Mealor). Dina (Marla Adams) also confuses Jack for a servant and tries to get rid of him. Jack decides that might be for the best. He packs up his belongings and gazes thoughtfully at the Abbott house before exiting.
At the athletic club, Kyle meets up with Mariah (Camryn Grimes) for heartfelt conversation. He suggests she shouldn’t throw in the towel when it comes to Tessa (Cait Fairbanks). Kyle opens up about his own family problems, too. Mariah’s happy to support Kyle, so they share some nice moments as the connect.
Up on the rooftop, Devon (Bryton James) surprises Hilary (Mishael Morgan) with a private party for two. They relax with massages and gently clasp each other’s hands. Hilary fishes for info on where their romance stands, so Devon is honest about his feelings. He had reservations about their reunion, but he’s starting to think this could be a fresh start.
Hilary acts like she’s meeting Devon for the first time. He playfully suggests that they can enjoy getting better acquainted. After some lip locks, Hilary thanks Devon and eventually fills Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) in. Hilary’s hopeful that her pregnancy dreams will come true. That would really seal the deal on her future with Devon.
