At this point Billy feels alienated from everyone he thought cared about him. While rightly suspicious of Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Ashley (Eileen Davidson), Billy’s conclusions about everyone seen at the Abbott house intervention represented the effects of pressured paranoia.
Shifting five hundred thousand dollars in Jabot funds to a gambling account via Gloria (Judith Chapman) seemed like the first deep dive Billy took. As of now viewers are wondering if he’ll try to steal more money to feed his habit, or face a strong-armed collection agency representative.
Vickie (Amelia Heinle) clearly recalls the many run-ins Billy (as then played by Billy Miller) had during the ballyhooed, but also lamented, ‘Villy’ years. Connections to degenerate gamblers nearly cost both Vickie and Billy their lives a number of years ago.
Embezzling from Jabot represented a new low for Billy. Telling Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) about it only served to underscore the impact this addiction has already had on Mr. Abbott.
One plot point that could help Billy involves Kyle. Blame will surely be applied and wrath will flow heard when others beyond Ashley learn that Jabot’s me-first junior executive was behind the Las Vegas poker game setup and orchestrated the invitation that led to Billy’s involvement with a gambling syndicate.
It’s debatable as to whether Jabot’s current Chief Executive Officer would have ever thought about gambling. Through Phyllis’ encouragement, Billy became genuinely interested in the position that Ashley, in particular, and Jack (Peter Bergman) initially coerced him to take.
But Summer (Hunter King) was bound and determined to distract him earlier this year. She purposely involved herself in games and made sure that Billy took notice. One whiff of the cards is all that he needed to become addicted again.
Summer’s then-partner in amorality, Kyle, used Sinead (Lira Kellerman) to draw Billy to Vegas. After that Mealor’s deeply devious alter ego made a phone call, shamelessly outside of Billy’s office no less, which generated the email invitation to the high-rollers conglomerate.

On a much lighter note, at least Jill (Jess Walton) is back. Hopefully Billy benefits from his mother’s presence, which seems linked to the addiction storyline and possibly, to the paternity of her troubled son. Walton is always a scene-stealer and certainly will dominant the frame again as her character and others try to prevent Billy from going off the rails.
