The Young and the Restless Recap Wednesday, August 1: Shauna Explodes, Reveals Lily Caused Accident

“The Young and the Restless” recap for Wednesday, August 1, 2018 reveals that at the penthouse, Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) is ready for Hilary Curtis’ funeral.

Lily Feels Guilty How She Treated Hilary

Neil Winters (Kristoff St. John) and Nate Hastings (Brooks Darnell) arrive. Nate let’s Devon know that Cane (Daniel Goddard) and Lily Ashby (Christel Khalil) are next door with the kids. Devon then tells them Shauna Nelson (Camryn Hamm) is upstairs. Lily comes over and she and Devon hug. Nate and Neil leave. Shauna eavesdrops on Devon and Lily’s conversation.

Lily tells Devon she feels guilty about how she treated Hilary. Devon reminds her they made peace and that’s all that matters. Across the hall, Charlie Ashby (Noah Alexander) is upset that Cane is having him to hide the truth and does not like asking Shauna to do the same.

Jack Offers Phyllis A Ride

Over at Phyllis Summers’ (Gina Tognoni) place, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) shows up and offers her a ride to the chapel.

At Jabot, Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) tells someone on the phone that, “This has to happen by the end of the week.”

At Sharon McAvoy’s (Sharon Case) place, Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) is happy that her mother is going to accompany her to Hilary Curtis’ funeral.

Genoa City Residents Celebrate Hilary’s Life

At the church, Devon Hamilton places his hand on Hilary Curtis’ casket. After, at the reception at Devon’s place, Neil Winters assures Devon that the funeral was exactly the way Hilary would have wanted it. Billy Abbott is there and tells Phyllis Summers he would not have missed it.

Devon makes a speech about Hilary. He talks about their love and knows that Hilary is making heaven a more beautiful place. They all raise a glass to Hilary. Jack speaks about he and Hilary’s friendship. Shauna Nelson wants to go next. Cane and Charlie Ashby look worried. Shauna breaks down during speaking and Neil takes over. He talks about his complicated relationship with Hilary.

Phyllis Reads A Letter From Hilary

Phyllis then speaks about Hilary being her “wing woman.” Then she reveals that she has a note from Hilary to read. In the note, Hilary acknowledges Neil’s class and goodness. She tells Shauna to get a great education. She tells Lily she prays that she and Cane continue to appreciate how lucky they are to have their family back.

Hilary pleads with Mariah Copeland to change her wardrobe and take the show to new heights. She urges Jack Abbott to put love before business. Her final words are for her love, Devon. She thanks him for all he has done and wants him to take time for himself. She asks him to picture her holding their baby snug in her arms.

Mariah Questions Mark

Mariah spots Mark, the man Hilary was with at the club. He says he didn’t know Hilary well. Mariah then tells Sharon McAvoy that Hilary told her that he was an old friend. Jack hangs around Phyllis and Billy. Devon acts edgy around Nate. Neil reminds him Nate gave Hilary more time. Mariah corners Mark and Devon joins them. They find out that Mark offered her a job, but Hilary wouldn’t leave. Billy upsets Phyllis by leaving.

Shauna Reveals Lily Ran A Red Light

The twins chat with Shauna. Charlie learns that Shauna is mad that Lily is getting away with what she did. Charlie tells her she didn’t mean to hurt anyone. Lily approaches Shauna and offers to help her through this. Shauna snaps and blurts out that Lily needs to stop acting like it was an accident. Everyone goes silent as Shauna yells, “You caused it Lily. You are the one who ran that red light, and Hilary is dead because of you.”
