The Young and the Restless RECAP Tuesday, August 21: Billy Reassures Phyllis He Only Wants Her

“The Young and the Restless” (YR) recap for Tuesday, August 21, 2018 reveals that over at Crimson Lights, Lauren Fenmore Baldwin (Tracey E. Bregman) waits for Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) to arrive to get his morning coffee. She questions Kyle if Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) would be interested in selling off his interest in Fenmore’s. Lauren points out that she knows he is aligned with Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson). Kyle insists he is loyal to Jabot which Lauren finds funny. She has a proposition for him and leaves him with something to think about.

At home, Billy Abbott spills hot coffee on Summer Newman’s (Hunter King) shirt. She takes it off. They bicker and she tells Billy he finally got what he wanted, her practically naked. Billy tells her nothing will ever happen between them. Phyllis Summers (Gina Tognoni) comes back because she forgot her phone and is shocked by what she sees. The two start explaining how they ran into one another.

After Summer goes upstairs Phyllis questions Billy on what really happened and he insists it was just an accident. Talk turns to Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) buying the leasing company. He tells her about having to travel to a trade show as Summer reappears and leaves. Phyllis then asks Billy if the whole coffee deal could have been purposely done by Summer. Billy tells her no, but admits Summer is a flirt. He tells Phyllis that Summer just likes winding her up.

At Newman Enterprises, Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) runs into Nate Hastings (Brooks Darnell) who wants to get to know her better since he is treating her parents. She does not see the point in it. Later, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) joins Victoria in his office.

They chat about Nate then Nick Newman. Victor says that he does not see Nick’s company as competition. Victoria learns that he wants Dark Horse to be a success so that he can take it over. Victoria thinks he needs to concentrate on Newman.

At the Athletic Club, Rey (Jordi Vilasuso) runs into Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott). He then asks her if he knows her, but she doesn’t think so. She goes and sits at a table and he goes to the bar. Nate Hastings arrives and updates Nikki on her progress.

He then reveals he is concerned about Victoria Newman’s stress levels. Nikki assures him she is fine and after he is gone she calls to warn Victoria. Rey watches as Victor Newman joins Nikki. Rey approaches and introduces himself telling them he is a big admirer of their charity work. They pose for a selfie with him. After, Rey looks through photos of Nikki, Victor, Victoria, Phyllis Summers, and Sharon McAvoy (Sharon Case) on his phone.

Over at Jabot, Summer Newman wants Lauren Fenmore Baldwin to send her to the same trade show that Billy Abbott is attending. Lauren points out how Summer is “Team Billy” lately and doesn’t give her what she wants. She then pleads for a chance to prove herself.

Lauren decides she can go. After Summer is alone she calls to find out where Billy is staying. Kyle Abbott appears and Summer fills him in. Kyle gets a call from Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) who’s upset and leaves. Billy and Phyllis Summers arrives but decides to play hooky. Summer books her room.

Back over at Crimson Lights, Mariah Copeland chats with Kyle Abbott about her concern over Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks). He agrees she should hire a P.I. Kyle offers to pay and will not let Mariah turn him down. Talk turns to Summer Newman. Mariah says she don’t trust her. Kyle admits he still has feelings for her but she has upped the stakes. He says rules don’t apply to her.

Victoria Newman goes to Neil Winters’ penthouse as Nate Hastings is practicing martial arts. She confronts him for asking her mom about her. Nate wants to chat about it but she warns him to back the hell off and leaves.

On the pool deck, Billy Abbott reassures Phyllis Summers about Summer Newman. He says he is only interested in one woman and tells her it’s time for them to move out. And that’s a wrap. Don’t forget to check often with Soap Opera Spy for all your soap needs.
