The Young and the Restless RECAP Thursday, August 16: Summer Ready To Ruin Lives, Nick Pays Bribe

“The Young and the Restless” (YR) recap for Thursday, August 16, 2018 reveals that over at Summer Newman’s (Hunter King) apartment, she and Phyllis Summers (Gina Tognoni) chat. Phyllis tells Summer she has not been having an affair, but admits to her one night with Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow).

She tells Summer it was a mistake. Summer lectures her for being a hypocrite. Phyllis claims she and Nick are just friends, but Summer doesn’t think she can sit back and watch her mom lie to Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson). Phyllis thinks staying quiet would be what is best for Billy and that just makes Summer even more furious and she storms off to see Billy.

At Hamilton-Winters Group, Cane Ashby (Daniel Goddard) brings Lily Ashby (Christel Khalil) some lunch. Lily wants Cane to quit acting like her court case is not real. She suggests that he find an alternative representation for her clients and prepare a press release if she’s convicted.

Cane refuses to give up hope. She gets upset talking about how hard it will be for her to stop being a mom and he holds her. Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) walks in so Cane leaves so they can talk. She let’s Devon know she is getting everything ready in case she goes to prison. He acts as if he doesn’t care. As he leaves, she tells him how much she loves him. He looks back at her, but leaves anyway.

At Jabot, Phyllis Summers storms in with Summer Newman right on her trail. They both demand to see Billy Abbott, but Gloria Bardwell (Judith Chapman) tells them that he is in a meeting and can not be disturbed. Phyllis busts into his office and sees he is not there.

Then Phyllis and Summer chat and Phyllis doesn’t understand where things went wrong between them. Summer explains that leaving Genoa City for a year made her realize she needs control over her life. Phyllis pleads with her to press the reset button on their relationship.

Gloria interrupts them to let them know Billy texted her and said he will not be back anytime soon. After, Phyllis begs Summer to forgive her and leave this alone. Summer offers to give her blessing if she and Billy survive this. Phyllis walks out and asks Gloria to keep Summer in the office in exchange for a spa package.

At the Dive Bar, Nick Newman and Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) chat about how hard she has been working on the wedding. They talk about the bridal shower she is planning. Phyllis Summers appears and Mariah takes off. Phyllis let’s Nick know that Summer Newman knows about them. Phyllis suspects that it has nothing to do with them, but more about Summer wanting Billy. Nick looks horrified. He says he will try to get their daughter not to tell.

Nick Newman goes to Jabot to chat with Summer Newman. Nick tells Summer that he is not angry that she threatened to ruin five people’s lives, but should have came to him first. Nick tells her what happened was a massive error in judgment and they are trying to move forward. He says she has every right to be upset, but he does not understand why she is trying to use it.

Nick insists he needs Sharon McAvoy (Sharon Case). Summer does not think he has a real relationship with Sharon since he has such an ongoing spark with her mom. He then asks how ruining this will make Faith Newman (Alyvia Alyn Lind) feel. Nick then tells her they don’t seem to have the loving and trusting relationship they use to and he writes her a check.
