“The Young and the Restless’s” Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) recently hit J.T. Hellstrom (Thad Luckinbill) with a fire poker that ultimately lead to his death. Now our question to you is was J.T.’s death self-defense, murder, or accidental?
Nikki Newman had recently learned about the abuse her daughter Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) had been enduring from J.T. Hellstrom. As a mother, she would do anything to protect her children and she had to do just that.
After hearing screams Nikki walked in on J.T. beating Victoria. Nikki didn’t think twice about grabbing a fire poker and hitting him from behind. Nikki wasn’t in immediate danger from J.T. but her daughter was, so she did what she felt necessary. Could it be classified as self-defense?
As far as murder, some fans are arguing the fact that since Nikki Newman was not in danger that it can not be considered self-defense and that it was murder, especially since it is being covered up. So, it could really go either way. Of course, now Phyllis Summers (Gina Tognoni), Sharon McAvoy (Sharon Case), and Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) will be accessories to the mess. Do you Y&R fans think that since Nikki was not in danger that what she did is murder?

There is also the fact that even though Nikki Newman did clock J.T. Hellstrom over the back of the head, she did not do it with intent to kill. So could it actually just be considered accidental? There is all kinds of ways this scenario could go, but now it’s going to be even harder being that his death is being covered up. You would think once it comes out that they all would face some type of charge but this is a soap we are talking about.
So Y&R fans, how do you feel about J.T ‘s death? Do you think it was self-defense, murder, or just an accident? Please take a vote in our poll and let us know how you feel about the situation. Don’t forget to check often with Soap Opera Spy for all your latest soap needs.
