Let’s face it; since Hilary showed up in Genoa City, the fans have wanted to see her leave—either by death or leaving town. She came to GC with a twisted revenge plan and she never really outgrew it. Her followers fell in love with her as she and Devon (Bryton James) become a super couple. Even after they broke up, the Hevon fans rooted for them to work things out. It still seems so unfair that they finally reconcile, only for her to die, doesn’t it?
Can the Winters’ family survive without Hilary on the show? She brought a lot of drama to the family and it spills out to other storylines. She would go up against Lily (Christel Khalil) and it would create tension with Cane (Daniel Goddard) and Devon. While her presence on the show, as well as Lily’s, will be missed, the show will go on. Her exit probably will not affect the show’s ratings too much.
Eileen Davidson has been a part of the soap opera for decades. She has taken time off multiple times to either stay at home with her family or to work on Days of Our Lives. Her exit is probably not a permanent, but that doesn’t mean the fans won’t miss her presence on the show.

In recent years, Ashley has gone toe to toe with Jack (Peter Bergman) over the way he is running the family company, Jabot. She has held him accountable for his actions. As many Young and the Restless fans can testify, he has made a few questionable decisions, in both his personal life and in business.
Without Ash on the show, Jack may not have anyone to keep him on his toes. While other Abbott family members could fill in for her, no one can get under Jack’s skin like his sis, Ashley.
Will the show survive?
The Young and the Restless will survive without Ashley or Hilary. It won’t be easy for the fans, but they must move on and enjoy the show without them. Mal Young teased that the show will be bringing in new talent, with all new drama and twists. It sounds like he’s anticipated the hole in the storylines after their departures and he is planning something exciting to keep the viewers engaged.
