The Young and the Restless Alum Miles Gaston Villanueva Books New Primetime Gig

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal Alum Miles Gaston Villanueva, who portrayed Luca Santori/Father Martin from 2013-2016 has taken to social media to reveal to fans his exciting news that he has been cast for recurring status to the FOX network Primetime series ‘The Resident’ as Doctor Alec Shaw.

Miles writes on his personal Twitter account, “Pinching myself.” He sends gratitude and love for the warm welcome. Clearly honored to be part of “such an important show” and thanks source Deadline Hollywood for breaking the news!

Miles Gaston Villanueva will be portraying Dr. Alec Shaw who is a doctor who never really settled in one place too long. He initially wanted to be an infectious disease specialist but after working on a Navajo Reserve; he changed his outlook on medicine altogether. His character will have an excellent bedside manner when it comes to his patients, but he will be lacking when it comes to personal relationship skills.

FOX’s ‘The Resident’ stars Emily Van Camp (Revenge, Emily), Matt Czuchry (Gilmore Girls, Logan), Manish Dayal (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Vijay), Bruce Greenwood (American Crime Story, Gil), Malcolm-Jamal Warner (Suits, Julius), (Major Crimes, Chuck). The series is jam packed with great characters and excellent actors; it was such a hit with fans that the second season will run a full 22 episodes!

The Young and the Restless spoilers remind viewers that we last saw Villanueva’s character Luca Santori in Genoa City in May 2016 when he was arrested after he sabotaged the Newman Enterprises oil rigs, causing it to spill. He had a disastrous relationship with Summer Newman (Hunter King) before being led away in handcuffs.

Miles Gaston Villanueva hasn’t been idle since his days on the CBS soap opera though – He has appeared in TV series like The Fosters, Jane the Virgin and the NBC’s Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders, where he portrayed Lyle Menendez.
