Soap Opera Weekly Ratings December 18 – 22: Y&R, DOOL, B&B and GH Down In Ratings!

The soap opera ratings for the week of Monday, December 18 through Friday, December 22, 2017, have been reported by Soap Opera Network, and the year did not end well for all four of the daytime dramas; especially for ABC’s General Hospital and CBS’ Y&R who dropped in the hundreds of thousands in total viewership! It could be the hustle and bustle of the holiday season that affected the ratings, so let’s hope the new year brings up ratings all around!

DAYS OF OUR LIVES

NBC’s DOOL lost the least amount of viewers this week, dropping only -6,000 among total viewers, resting sat 2,324,000 in total viewership. The NBC soap opera also lost 7,000 among women viewers aged 18 – 49. It was definitely an emotional week as fans watched JJ (Casey Moss) feel his only option was to end his own life; everyone on edge hoping someone will get through to him. The traditional ornament hanging moments of the Horton clan was ruined by selfish girls, Ciara (Victoria Konefal) and Claire (Olivia Rose Keegan) as Brady (Eric Martsolf) plans to neutralize Eve (Kassie DePaiva). Will things ever be calm in Salem?

THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL

CBS’ B&B also struggled this week, losing 18,000 in total viewers but still sitting in second place with 3,506,000 in total viewership; however, the CBS soap opera dropped the least amount of women viewers aged 18 – 49, losing 4,000 compared to last week. Steffy’s (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) pregnancy news begins to spread, with various reactions. Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) warns Katie (Heather Tom) about the perils of her relationship with Wyatt (Darin Brooks). Everyone gathers together to celebrate Christmas, as Brooke and Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) relish in their engagement.

GENERAL HOSPITAL

ABC’s GH fell pretty hard compared to last week’s ratings, falling 113,000 in total viewership, settling in at 2,677,000. The hits keep coming as their numbers also fell by 35,000 among women viewers aged 18 – 49. Lulu (Emme Rylan) is determined to pursue her next big story when she discovers the missing Mayoral ballots. Maxie (Kirsten Storms) fears to be a bad mother, while Nathan (Ryan Paevey) questions his mother, Dr. O (Kathleen Gati) about his father. Laura (Genie Francis) and Kevin (Jon Lindstrom) prepare for their wedding as Ned (Wally Kurth) seems to soften towards a new Quartermaine family member.

THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS

CBS’ Y&R fell dramatically in the ratings this week, dropping 225,000 in total viewers from the week before.; but still at the top with 4,331,000 in total viewership. However, compared to the previous week, the daytime drama also lost 42,000 women viewers aged 18-49. Ashley (Eileen Davidson) and Jack (Peter Bergman) continue to battle it out in the boardroom and at home, while Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) and Victor (Eric Braeden) seem to have come to an agreement. Abby (Melissa Ordway) clearly misunderstands JT Hellstrom’s (Thad Luckinbull) intentions as Nikki worries what Paul (Doug Davidson) and Christine (Lauralee Bell) have planned for her. Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) enjoy the holiday festivities, but will the holiday cheer last?
