CBS’ Y&R remains at the top of the list for total viewership, gaining an impressive 469,000 from the previous week, totaling 4,800,000 in total viewers. The CBS daytime drama also gained 80,000 women viewers between the ages of 18-49, finishing at 508,000. Both are a new high for Y&R Executive Produces and Head Writer, Mal Young. Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) was reminded what Christmas was all about by whom she believes was Katherine Chancellor’s spirit. Sharon (Sharon Case) and Mariah (Camryn Grimes) share a tender mother/daughter moment about Cassie and once again Victor (Eric Braiden) and Nikki Newman exchange wedding vow as Abby (Melissa Ordway) and Scotty (Daniel Hall) get caught kissing again. Will the new year bring more happiness and less family drama?
CBS’ B&B did incredibly well in the ratings this week; 265,000 total viewers more compared to last week, totaling at 3,771,000. The CBS soap opera rose significantly among women viewers aged 18-49 as well, going up 25,000 from the previous week. Although this week was 3 episodes long, it has stuffed a lot of drama into it! Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) kicked out Thorn (Ingo Rademacher). Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) thinks Bill (Don Diamont) might have slept with her out of revenge on Liam (Scott Clifton) as she impatiently waits for the paternity results of her unborn baby. Steffy gets the results, and B&B fans see that the baby is Liam’s but is everything forgiven and magically fixed because of this paper?
NBC’s DOOL was another soap opera who made a huge leap in total viewers this week. 172,000 to be exact, ending out the year with 2,496,000 in total viewership. The NBC soap opera also gained 6,000 viewers in women aged 18-49, compared to the previous week. Salem gets a few Christmas miracles and a few blunders. JJ is forgiven. Lani (Sal Stowers) had sex with Eli (Lamon Archey). Ciara (Victoria Konefal) and Claire (Olivia Rose Keegan) continue to bicker over Theo (Kyler Pettis). To end out 2017, a mysterious couple arrives at the New Year’s Eve celebration Abby (Marci Miller) held in honor of Chad (Billy Flynn). How will this mysterious couple affect everyone in Salem?
ABC’ GH rose 76,000 in total viewership from the previous week having 2,753,000 in total viewers. The ABC daytime drama also gained 14,000 viewers in women between the ages of 18-49. Maxie (Kirsten Storms) takes steps to make ease Nathan’s mind about his paternity, using his connection to Amy (Risa Dorken) to get it done. Anna (Finola Hughes) continues to worry about Finn (Michael Easton) and his ties to Cassandra (Jessica Tuck). Carly (Laura Wright) proves she hasn’t changed a bit when she strands Jason (Steve Burton) and Sam (Kelly Monaco) together, forcing them to acknowledge their feelings about each other. Lulu (Emme Rylan) betrays many of those closest to her as she is determined to catch her next story – Cesar Faison (Anders Hove)!
