Love of Life and Loving Soap Alum Passes Away

We’ve got sad news to share with the daytime television community. There are new reports that indicate actress and daytime television alumni Virginia Robinson passed away back in June at the age of 99. She was also best known for her role as Garol on Broad City.

According to reports, it was the cast and crew of Broad City that shared the news with their social media followers. They wrote on their official Instagram account, “We recently received the very sad news that Virginia Robinson, the incredible and hilarious actress who played Garol has passed away. It’s safe to say that very few performances have brought us as much joy (and tears streaming down our face) as hers. She will be missed.”

She also appeared on the daytime CBS soap, Love of Life in the 1950s. There’s even an episode of her in character from February of 1955 available on YouTube. Fans can relive some of her greatest moments, including when her character Judith received a stern warning from Ben (who was played by future General Hospital legend David Lewis).

The episode actually made a lot of headlines at the time because it was the first time that television viewers heard the word “pregnant” on air. It was a move that definitely shocked an entire generation at the time.

Either way, Virginia has managed to work all throughout her career. She filmed three episodes of Broad City just last year. It’s without a doubt that she will be missed both on screen and off, too. Our condolences go to her family members and friends.
