Now that Nathan (Ryan Paevey) is finally gone, there’s only one thing left to do for his character: and that says goodbye during a heart-wrenching funeral. As a matter of fact, fans will get to see Port Charles pay their respects one more time to Nathan during this upcoming week on General Hospital.

And apparently, the episode will be one that will tug at everyone’s hearts. Co-head writer Shelly Altman told CBS Soaps In Depth, “We always look to the future. It is an extremely sad event and I predict there will not be a dry eye in any house when that memorial, the funeral, that Chris Van Etten so beautifully wrote takes place. But finding Maxie in such a vulnerable place, carrying his child, it just seemed that it would impact the canvas as a whole in a much greater way. A police officer takes his life in his hands every day. So it seemed true to the character and true to the story.”
What’s more, Chris Van Etten adds that the entire show will be devoted to the loss of a hero. Nathan will go out with full police honors. He said, “We will see his family in the midst of a great deal of grief. Port Charles is a town of heroes and villains, but it has been characterized by its good guys from the very beginning and he is going to leave a hole in a lot of people’s lives, people we are very close to as audience members and as writers, too. I don’t like to see Maxie cry. But you gotta do what you gotta do, and in this case, it will happen. We had to inflict some pain.”
“I love you, Maxie. Like there’s no tomorrow.”

We have a feeling that Maxie (Kirsten Storms) won’t be the only person in tears. From what we can tell already, the episode is going to be a very emotional one for both the actors and of course, General Hospital fans and viewers. There won’t be a dry eye in the house, for sure.
