General Hospital Spoilers: Genie Francis Is On Her Way Home to Port Charles!

Well, that didn’t take too long! Several months ago fans were shocked when they found out that General Hospital producers would not be extending actress Genie Spencer’s contract on the show. After all, Laura Spencer is an iconic character. But now it looks like Genie is finally back, and she’s getting ready to begin the next chapter in her character’s General Hospital storyline.

According to CBS Soaps in Depth, Genie is at last returning to the soap as Laura, with many fans breathing a huge sigh of relief. Executive producer Frank Valentini even had this to say, “I’m really excited for Genie to be rejoining the cast. We have an amazing story for her.”

The last time fans saw Laura was back in January. She just tied the knot with Jon Lindstorm’s Kevin and was headed to Europe to take care of her younger grandson, Spencer, after he broke both of his legs in a skiing accident.

Genie first joined the cast of General Hospital back in 1977. For many, she’s a daytime television icon, having starred in Days of Our Lives (as Diana), All My Children (Ceara), and The Young and the Restless (as Genevieve). She also headlined her own primetime soap, Bare Essence, back in 1982 and starred in all three of the North and South miniseries.
