General Hospital RUMOR BUSTER: Oscar’s NOT Nina’s Child

General Hospital RUMOR BUSTER: Oscar's NOT Nina's ChildSoap fans can go overboard with any idea, and General Hospital’s Nina’s (Michelle Stafford) child has undoubtedly been one of those. Sometimes the math doesn’t work and people, even on soaps don’t age backward.

Nina Was In A Coma For Twenty Years

There is no possible way that Oscar’s (Garren Stitt) mom is Nina. The kid is barely 14. It’s hard enough to sell him being Drew’s (Billy Miller) kid when Drew disappeared in 2012. Supposedly, Drew knew nothing about Oscar then. Nina, on the other hand, was in a coma fourteen years ago. Nina had been in a coma for six years at that point. Babies don’t stop growing because their mother is in a coma. Nina did not deliver a six-year-old kid. There is no way in soaps that Nina is Oscar’s mother.

One Wrong Baby Gender Doesn’t Make Them All Wrong

Any General Hospital fan knows that people lie about baby genders, paternity, etc. all the time. However, just because one kid is the opposite of what they thought, does not make it so with every birth. Valentin(James Patrick Stuart) purposely lied about Anna’s baby. There would be no need for Madeline to lie about Nina’s.

Furthermore, Madeline knew that Valentin would come after her if she lied. The gender of Nina’s baby doesn’t matter because it would have been an heir either way. What would be the purpose in lying about the gender? Valentin would find the truth either way. Logic escapes me on this way of thinking.

Kim Knows Margaux, She Had No Connection To Nina

Kim didn’t know who Nina was when she saw her. Kim did recognize Margaux from somewhere. Peter (Wes Ramsey) remembered Margaux (Elizabeth Hendrickson) as well. Peter and Drew know each other according to Faison (Anders Hove). Margaux makes sense, a woman in a coma does not. DNA proved Drew Oscar’s father. How would Drew get a comatose married woman pregnant? Why would Madeline allow this when she tried to kill the baby? With no previous connection to Nina, this doesn’t work.

General Hospital may very well be a soap opera, but even soaps don’t work backward. No rewrite could fix this because it makes no sense. Sorry fans, but Oscar being Nina’s kid is another idea that falls flat.

As always, more detailed spoilers and a full collection of pictures for the week in question will appear here on Soap Opera Spy, where there will be more clues and hints over exactly what’s going on.

General Hospital airs weekdays on the ABC network.
