General Hospital Recap Monday, December 31: New Year’s Eve 1997 Encore Episode

General Hospital (GH) recap of Monday, December 31, 2018 encore episode from December 31, 1997.  Today’s encore episode reveals Tony (Brad Maule) argued with Jason (Steve Burton) over his rights as Michael’s, although unnamed at the time, potential father to decide on medical treatment for the infant.

Tony And Jason Argue Over Michael

After conferring with Monica (Leslie Charleston), Jason opted for the baby to have surgery, against Tony’s wishes. The surgery was successful, and Tony was saddened to learn that the baby’s blood type ruled him out as the father. Jason claimed Michael as his own and began to bond with him.

The Quartermaine’s Wait For Michael’s Surgery To Be Completed

Monica told the rest of the Quartermaines that Jason’s child had been born, and the family converged on the hospital. Luke (Tony Geary) continued to wrestle with his conscience over whether or not to tell Bobbie (Jackie Zeman) that the baby was her grandson.

An angry Luke then stopped the Quartermaines’ public wrangling over the baby’s future. After watching the behavior of his family, A.J. (Billy Warlock) decided to conduct his paternity test at a later date so that the Quartermaines would not be alerted. A.J. knew that he could be the baby’s father and when Tony was proven not to be, A.J. knew he needed to prove that he was the father instead of Jason. A.J. didn’t want to alert the family of this fact because of the backlash it would cause.

Jax And Brenda Celebrate At Home

Jax (Ingo Rademacher) got an idea after a call from Robin (Kimberly McCullough) seemed to lift Brenda’s (Vanessa Marcil) spirits. Jax and Brenda decided to spend New Year’s Eve ordinarily, and they watched the arrival of the new year on television. For the first time in weeks, Brenda appeared to be happy and at peace.

Nikolas Refuses To Open Up To Sarah

Nikolas (Tyler Christopher) returned home and found Sarah (Jennifer Skye) waiting for him, but Nikolas refused to open up to her. After being rejected by Nikolas, Sarah joined Liz (Rebecca Herbst) at the Outback, and Liz was disappointed that Lucky (Jonathan Jackson) hadn’t arrived for the New Year’s Eve party.

Stefan Wants Katherine To Move In With Him

Justus (Joseph C. Phillips) and Dara (Vanita Harbour) managed to reconnect. As Dara sang, A.J. and Keesha (Senait Ashenafi ) danced in the moonlight. Stefan (Stephen Nichols) told Katherine (Mary Beth Evans) that he hoped she would move into Wyndemere with him.
