General Hospital News: Genie Francis Back On GH – Laura Returns To Port Charles

Great news General Hospital (GH) fans! Genie Francis (Laura Spencer Collins) is headed back to GH. Fans were pretty upset about Laura Spencer’s exit from the ABC soap opera, and GH dropping Genie Francis from contract to recurring status.

Sources now report that Genie will be taping in September 2018.  It will be great to see Laura back she has been away for 8-months.  She made a hasty exit from Port Charles to take care of her grandson Spencer Cassadine. (Nicolas Bechtel)

In the weeks following the shocking General Hospital casting news, it was a pretty hot topic on social media, and GH fans needed someone to blame – they set their sights on Executive Producer Frank Valentini.  However, Frank claimed they were working on a big “Laura” story and Genie defended him at the time on twitter.

In an interview with Daytime After Dark in March ABC Network, executive Nathan Varni revealed the writing team at GH was working on a big, Laura-centric storyline. So we are assuming that is what she will be taping.

“What we want is a prolific, big story for Laura that deserves the many talents of Genie Francis,” he revealed. “So our writers are thinking and working on that as we speak. It’s my intention that I hope we can continue to have a relationship as Genie obviously is a very important part of GH and the GH family. But you know, we want to be able to service the talents of Genie and we don’t want to just have any tiny little story where she kind of blends into the background. We want a Laura-centric story. So we are continuing to work on that and hopefully, that will be on screen sooner than later.”
