General Hospital Fans Confused By Anna And Peter’s Story – Is Rewriting GH History Costing Viewers?

When the powers that be hires new writers, some things are bound to change but is changing history worth losing viewers that have been loyal for years?

Contrary to popular belief, we are well aware that General Hospital is a soap opera. However, we are attached to these characters and their stories and we do not take kindly to writers coming in and changing them.

If the network wants people to invest in the characters on a show, some consistency has to exist. For years Robin Scorpio-Drake [Kimberly McCullough] was an only child and Anna Devane [Finola Hughes] was a virgin when she slept with Robert Scorpio [Tristan Rogers] the first time and we bought into this love story for decades, not just a few days. Now writers come in and completely ruin their entire history and their family dynamic and the whole story behind it.

Anna And Robin Had A Special Relationship

We accepted that fact that Anna wasn’t with Robin most of her life and that Robert didn’t know about her. Robin and Anna developed a special relationship once they were reunited and Anna was honest with Robin afterward.

Now Robin, justifiably feels that her mother has lied to her for her entire life. I can totally understand Robin’s reaction. Robin is justified in feeling that she doesn’t know her mother because every single thing she was told about her life was a lie.

Peter August [Wes Ramsey] is older than Robin and her mom just walked off and left him. Robin has two children and could not imagine her life without either. I’m sure she has to be the wonder, “what if I was born first, would you have walked off and cut ties with me if I were Faison’s [Anders Hove] child”?

Absolute NO Research Is Done Before Making These Changes

How hard is it to research before making a major change in a character’s life? I am positive that GH has copies of the shows, scripts are readily available etc. So why in the world would you give Peter a birth date that Robin is clearly alive already and with her parents ONSCREEN?

Not only was Robin alive but she was at least 7 years old, so how could Anna be having Faison’s child, who is supposed to be OLDER than Robin, when she’s at home with Robin and Robert? Peter’s birthday needs to be well over 7 years before the GH writers have it set at.
