Eastenders Spoilers: Is Max Branning Leaving The Soap?

Eastenders spoilers indicate that there is going to be quite a shuffle in the soap’s cast in the coming weeks. In fact, reports say that Max Branning might soon be leaving after actor Jake Wood made a surprising announcement about his future.

The 46-year-old actor revealed that he is taking some time off from the highly-rated BBC soap in order to go on tour with his band, Pound for Pound. He will be on the road with his teammates for 14 shows, which means that fans will have to miss seeing Max at Albert Square for some time.

He posted on Twitter: “Buzzing for this, gonna be so much fun. Can’t wait to get out on the road with @PoundPodcast @SpencerOliver.”

In addition, a spokesperson for Eastenders confirmed that Jake would be taking some time off from the show next year. Yet, the soap’s writers are keeping very quiet about what will happen next for his character, Max. He is currently tied to Rainie Cross (Tanya Franks)  after the couple get together for their sham marriage. At first, their marriage was their plan to gain custody of baby Abi, but now things have gotten pretty serious between them.

Earlier this year Jake said that he could never quit Eastenders. He told Britain’s Express, “That’s why I’ve been there 12 years – they always give me great stuff to do. No [I don’t get bored]. I never know what he’s going to do next. I’m just as interested and intrigued. He is a great character isn’t he? It’s easy to get complacent – not just there but in any area. Unless I know that I can give it 100 per cent and I’m full in then I’d rather not be there.”
