Days Of Our Lives Spoilers: Maggie and Sarah Fight For Custody of Holly

Days Of Our Lives Spoilers: Maggie and Sarah Fight For Custody of HollyDays of Our Lives spoilers tease that there will be a family feud over the custody of little Holly Jonas (Harlow and Scarlett Mallory), with Maggie Horton Kiriakis (Suzanne Rogers) and Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) even taking sides against each other!

Surrogate Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin) and Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan) will also be involved in this baby battle, but since neither have any legal standing since they are not blood relatives, only Sarah or Maggie would have any legal claims at all.

Eric promised Holly’s natural mother, Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker) that he would raise baby Holly if anything happened to her; however Holly’s birth father was Maggie’s son, Dr. Daniel Jonas (Shawn Christian), and since the deaths of Nicole and Daniel, Holly has been living most recently with Grandma Maggie, although Eric had cared for her previously.

Maggie is now afraid that Eric, having been an alcoholic may not be the best caretaker for Holly, and it’s obvious she has gotten quite attached to her toddler granddaughter. In general, family courts will rule in favor of natural relatives such as grandmothers, aunts, or birth fathers when it comes to custody cases, although it seems that maternal relatives stand a better chance of gaining custody of small children as young as Holly.

Sarah is in conflict with her own mother, Maggie, because even though she realizes Maggie has been an excellent grandmother and caretaker to little Holly, she feels like Eric needs to raise Holly in order to heal from Nicole’s death. Most psychologists would agree that is not the best reason to raise a child, however. Eric undoubtedly loves her and would strive to provide a stable and loving environment for her, but his own emotional needs may prove to outweigh Holly’s in such an arrangement, and Sarah may not realize that.

The only way Sarah could hope to help Eric gain custody is possibly by taking her place as a co-parent of sorts, which still doesn’t really guarantee Eric’s success where raising Holly is concerned. What could be down the line for Eric and Sarah-a marriage of convenience of sorts in order to raise Holly, or will Grandma Maggie win?
