Days of Our Lives News: Stephen Nichols Reveals Upsetting Details About His DOOL Exit

Days of Our Lives actor Stephen Nichols is opening up about the real reason why he decided to leave the hit NBC daytime television show.

The actor, who is best known for his role as Steve “Patch” Johnson, shocked fans when he announced that he would be leaving the soap, even though he is one of the most beloved characters. Not too long ago Stephen hinted that he felt blindsided by the producers of Days of Our Lives, but didn’t go into detail as to why.

Yet, for fans it was always pretty obvious that contract negotiations simply fell through between Stephen and the producers. As a matter of fact, whenever a long-time star leaves a soap, that is almost always the reason for their departure.

And now when one fan expressed their undying support for Stephen online, he responded along with the reason why he decided to quit.

Stephen wrote on his Twitter account, “Tori, I am touched and humbled by your kind words. I will be forever indebted to you and all of our dedicated supporters who give so much love. I accepted their offer after trying unsuccessfully to negotiate something better than a 30% cut. With no warning -written out. Truth.”

It’s a shame that viewers won’t be seeing Stephen after the end of this year, although the door will surely remain open for his return, should he decide to come back.  Days of Our Lives airs weekdays on the NBC network. Check your local listings for times.
