Confirmed – Melissa Claire Egan Leaving The Young And The Restless

The Young and the Restless rumors have been hinting that Melissa Claire Egan was leaving Y&R for weeks now, and we can now sadly confirm that the rumors are true.  Say goodbye to Chelsea Newman!

Insider Jamey Giddens confirmed Melissa Claire Egan’s shocking exit from Y&R today on Daytime Confidential.  It appears that it was Melissa’s decision to leave the CBS soap opera, and the actress wants to pursue a primetime TV career, just like her former co-star Justin Hartley [ex Adam Newman].

Daytime Confidential is reporting, “According to multiple sources, Egan is leaving daytime’s top-rated drama to pursue primetime and film opportunities full-time.”

As of right now, it appears that Y&R has no intention to recast the role of Chelsea Newman, however that don’t mean that they won’t later down the road, just like they have with other major characters.
