Beloved General Hospital Star Susan Brown Passes Away

We’ve got sad news for daytime television fans. There are new reports that say a beloved General Hospital (GH) soap veteran has passed away. Actress Susan Brown, who is best known for her role as Dr. Gail Adamson Baldwin, has passed away at the age of 86, according to her close family members and friends. Her former television stepson Kin Shriner (Scott Baldwin) shared the news with his social media fans.

Susan was known as a fan favorite during General Hospital’s golden age. She joined the highly-rated ABC soap back in 1977 and has appeared on the show for more than three decades. If that weren’t enough, she also played Dr. Gail Adamson Baldwin on General Hospital’s sister soap Port Charles, too.

The actress was nominated for an Emmy in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama series category in the award’s first year. The last time fans saw her, she made a public appearance a few years ago at a General Hospital cast event with Hansen and Rachel Ames. Since then, she’s led a relatively quiet life away from the cameras and the celebrity spotlight.

Fans remember her best as the on-screen psychiatrist who often listened to her friend Monica (played by actress Leslie Charleson). In addition to her work on General Hospital, she also appeared on several other daytime television shows including As The World Turns as Adelaide Fitzgibbon. She was also known for her role as First Lady Pat Nixon in the television movie The Final Days and Nancy Reagan in Without Warning: The James Brady Story in 1991.
