This is Us Mandy Moore Reveals Secret Code Word About Jack Pearson’s Death

This is Us spoilers indicate that Mandy Moore has revealed a secret code word that she shared with the rest of the cast to help keep Milo Ventimiglia’s character’s death a secret. She even says that an important clue of family patriarch Jack Pearson’s death was revealed during the first season but it won’t be fully explained until much later in the second season.

Season 2 finally revealed that Jack had in fact died during a house fire. Mandy’s character Rebecca can be seen driving from the hospital with some of Jack’s belongings in the front seat of her car. Speaking about the house, Mandy explained on the Today Show, “We called it ‘The Marble.’ We’ve all been holding on to this secret for like a year and a half now, and when we actually shot that, they built the outside of the house about an hour and half outside of L.A. All of our signs that normally say “TIU” around town, to show the crew where we’re filming, [were printed with] a completely different word to throw people off in case someone was being followed to set.”

Mandy also added that the cast and crew were forced to sign a nondisclosure agreement and that scenes were also shot out of order in order to confuse the paparazzi. For the longest time many viewers believed that Jack had died in a car crash before the burned-down house was revealed. And while everyone knows that Jack died in a fire now, the details are still sketchy. Some believe that Jack might have started the fire because of his drinking, yet his daughter Kate blames herself from the accident.
