Abby (Melissa Ordway) was completely right on ‘The Young and the Restless’. She suspected that Vickie (Amelia Heinle) was a threat because, if it ever came to it their dad would side with his first-born. And now Victor (Eric Braeden) has done exactly that once again.
Brash and Sassy isn’t actually merging with Newman Enterprises. Victor’s company is a multi-pronged global behemoth. Vickie’s one-time Newman division is a player in the cosmetics game. But Victor is allowing his daughter to term the refolding of her company into Newman as a merger in order to facilitate something else.
Vickie has long been seen by Victor as his most likely heir apparent. That’s why he’s allowing Vickie to assume the title of Chief Operating Officer and serve, on paper at least, as his equal in order to facilitate her return to Newman.

Y&R wrote Abby into more mature territory in recent years. That push went off-track the moment Ordway’s character became involved with Zack (Ryan Ashton). Her business and later, emotional investment in this man regrettably unearthed the dopey version of this character.
Combine the coming revelation about Zack’s crimes with Abby’s power strip at Newman and Ordway fans are right to wonder what direction executive producer and head writer Mal Young will take Abby in moving forward?
As hardcore viewers have seen, Abby has done all that Victor asked during her reign on the executive level. She was there for her father when Vickie was gone, Nicholas (Joshua Morrow) remained opposed to the family business and after Adam’s (Justin Hartley) seeming demise ended any chance of his return to the company.

Vickie’s loose management style and poor decision-making led to Brash and Sassy’s problems. She put her trust in Billy (Jason Thompson), Cane (Daniel Goddard) and Juliet (Laur Allen). All three people failed her. On a deeper level, Vickie allowed her messy and ever-chaotic personal life to negatively impact Brash and Sassy after she chose to buy Jill (Jess Walton) out.
Victor, like Abby, didn’t see Zack as a threat. But the negative fallout of this incubator company pick will likely fall on Abby, while Vickie’s various business missteps have already been cast aside.
Yes, Vickie is Victor’s favorite child. Abby felt that and now has proof.
