The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Sharon’s World Shattered – Nick Unmasks Scott the Cheater

Three different people knew that Scott (Daniel Hall) was involved with Abby (Melissa Ordway) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Faith (Alyvia Alyn Lind), Mariah (Camryn Grimes) and Nick (Joshua Morrow) all were enlightened, while Sharon (Sharon Case) remained in the dark. But her former husband and the father of two of her children will change that.

Nick saw Abby kissing Scott on New Year’s Eve at the Ranch. Despite promises Mr. Grainger made to Mariah, he was unable to escape Abby’s emotional grip. That choice may end ‘Shott’ forever, or at least for awhile in soap time.

The revitalization of Sharon does not have to end through this turn in the romantic part of her storyline. Case’s character had been written off the rails shortly after Cassie (also played by Camryn Grimes) died in 2005. Case fans were pleased when Steve Burton’s (Dylan) voluntary exit from the cast resulted in Sharon’s renewal.

Dylan’s departure and the Christian (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen) paternity factor would have crushed the fragile version of Sharon that had been presented for many years. But former co-executive producer and then head writer Sally Sussman opted to have Sharon turn her life around. Thankfully, executive producer and current head writer Mal Young (who was an executive producer of the show during Sussman’s brief return tenure) has followed the same plot path.

Sharon’s connection with Scott formed naturally, after Hall’s character returned to Genoa City earlier this year. She also waited for awhile before asking him to live at the Cottage.

Ideally, the revelation that Scott has been cheating on her with Abby since the fall won’t cause Sharon to regress. Of course she’ll naturally be shocked, angered and saddened. But hopefully she’s able to move forward, knowing that ‘Shott’ hadn’t reached the engagement period yet.

Case is one of Y&R’s great actors. She deserves to continue to receive scripts that provide depth for her character, rather than a return to well-worn territory.
