The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Sharon Withholds Information From Scott – Couple Trouble Forecasted

Scott (Daniel Hall) asked Sharon (Sharon Case) a question on The Young and the Restless. He said that when his cell phone reception cut out the other day while he was following Zack (Ryan Ashton) and Abby (Melissa Ordway) that he missed the last part of what Sharon was saying to him. The information in that dropped call and how it was later repressed proved to be revealing.

As viewers watched ‘Shott’ exchange dialogue at Crimson Lights, Sharon reflected. She and the audience could hear the voice over memory of her saying that she loved Scott. When the sound ended Case’s character didn’t tell Scott that she loved him. Instead, Sharon told Scott that she just wanted him to come home safely.

Why did Sharon do that?

Longtime Y&R fans know that Sharon, like seemingly every soap opera character, has ridden a romantic roller coaster. Most recently she faced the loss of her husband, Dylan (Steve Burton), with class and dignity.

The choice to stabilize Sharon’s character began with co-executive producer and head writer Sally Sussman and hopefully appears to be continuing with Mal Young, Y&R’s current executive producer, and head writer.

It can be argued that Sharon’s cautiousness with Scott is another sign of her emotional maturity. She knows that Scott is dealing with lingering issues that are somewhat similar to Dylan’s PTSD aftereffects. In order not to pressure Scott and because he’s just lived through a traumatic situation, Sharon decided to check herself.

Scenes in recent months clearly show that Sharon cares for Scott. She also stated that her reaction to Scott’s disappearance last week came as a surprise, as it confirmed the deepening feelings she has for this man.

Y&R is allowing ‘Shott’ to remain fluid in the days leading into Thanksgiving, rather than have the climax to the Zack arc serve as a sealer for that couple. Sharon doesn’t know what happened between Scott and Abby, which will almost certainly play into the possibility that ‘Scabby’ wasn’t a one-time thing.
