When Sharon and Mariah meet back up, they chuckle over the fact that they gave each other the same blouse. Mariah hands over a teapot as well. Since it has “Mom” written on it, Sharon softly points out that Mariah doesn’t refer to her in that way. Mariah suggests that it has negative connotations for her thanks to her past. Nevertheless, she indeed calls Sharon “Mom” when she thanks her for Cassie’s (Camryn Grimes) ornament.
Meanwhile, Hilary (Mishael Morgan) gets ready to kick off the show without Mariah. Since Mariah wouldn’t wear the snowman costume, Hilary’s forcing her to sit this one out. Devon (Bryton James) chats with Mariah for a moment and Hilary gets a delivery. It’s a dress she ordered as a present for herself.
During the show, Hilary reads letters that kids wrote to Santa. She’s stunned when one of them is a letter she penned as a child. Hilary’s Sunday school teacher sent it in. It’s all about little Annie Turner’s desire for a family. Devon discusses it with her during a commercial break and Hilary’s mood shifts. She asks Mariah to finish the show with her and gives her the dress she bought.
Later, Hilary writes another letter to Santa on the back of childhood one. She looks thoughtful as she reflects on Christmas memories. Across town, Billy (Jason Thompson) gets a figurine from Phyllis that offers a hint about his skydiving gift. He’s bummed since Phyllis’ present hasn’t shown up yet. Afterward, Billy tracks down Abby (Melissa Ordway) and lets her know they’re still related in his book.
Elsewhere, Victoria (Amelia Heinle) asks Phyllis what Billy cooked up for Christmas. She knows he likes to go big. Back at home, Billy gives Phyllis a cake he baked and offers an apology for the wrecked gift plan. Only a pear tree and five golden rings arrived, but he ordered something for each of the 12 days of Christmas. Phyllis doesn’t mind, so they spend Christmas celebrating in bed with Billy’s cake.
At the park, Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) speaks to a homeless lady named Kathy. When Nikki realizes her purse has been stolen, she manages to corner Kathy and get it back. After Kathy shares her story, Nikki softens. She understands what it’s like when times are tough. Sharon (Sharon Case) eventually questions Nikki’s claims. She contends that she didn’t see anyone else there.
