The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Mariah Fired Up – Scott Loses Cottage Advocate

It took awhile for Mariah (Camryn Grimes) to warm up to Sharon (Sharon Case) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. But mother and daughter are as tight as could be these days. That’s another reason why Scott (Daniel Hall) now faces an uphill battle within the Cottage on Y&R.

Faith (Alyvia Alyn Lind) saw Scott and Abby (Melissa Ordway) kissing at the Chancellor Park outdoor cafe. That accidental reveal will prove disastrous for the first half of ‘Shott’ now that Mariah’s been informed about what happened.

As a liner note, viewers once again saw the dangers of modern technology in motion. Faith used her smartphone to order a taxi to get to the park, where her mother forbid her from going. Unfettered access to the internet by a falsely labeled tweenager? No, children aren’t a market segment.

Now, back to fictional reality. Scott foolishly continues to engage in post-storage unit exploits that resemble a teenager’s high school efforts. Abby is not his second choice prom date and shouldn’t be thought of in that way.

Scott just told Sharon that she’s the woman he wants to spend the rest of his life with, all the while having just informed Abby that she does something for him. It appears that Scott’s journalistic experience, with whatever that was, resulted in him never developing adult relationship skills.

Sharon worked hard on stabilizing her life since Dylan (Steve Burton) moved to Port Charles. Wink. Now, after seemingly realizing another soul mate, she does not deserve Scott’s disrespect.

Longtime soap fans are right to assume that Sharon will learn, either directly, or indirectly how Scott has betrayed her trust. How she handles that shock will go a long way in determining whether Scott is actually ‘the one’.

Possibly, if ‘Shott’ is meant to be, Mariah’s energy will allow Scott to confront himself and make the right choice. Yes, he should choose Sharon. But he should also come clean, trusting that the woman who’s welcomed him into her life, family and home offers him the greatest chance at sustainable love.
