Jack (Peter Bergman) told his family that he’s taking a leave of absence from Jabot on ‘The Young and the Restless’. The development plays directly into the loose plot point involving Dina (Marla Adams) having started The Underground fire. Viewers can expect this loyal son to defend his mother from coming accusations.
Nick (Joshua Morrow) has come under suspicion for having set his own nightclub ablaze. Y&R fans know that he was seen lighting matches inside The Underground on that fated night, but wasn’t the cause of what happened. Instead, Dina happened by, tipped over a kerosene light and walked away, oblivious to what she’d done.

Noah (Robert Adamson) has since moved on. Nick’s son and partner in the one-time plan to expand The Underground into a franchise, was persuaded by Victoria (Amelia Heinle) to take over management at the Top of The Tower. While no longer present, Noah’s knowledge of his father’s business should prove useful during an insurance investigation.
The Newman men’s lives were altered by Dina’s actions, which were caused by her current state of mind. As viewers now know, she’s was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s a year ago. She and Graham (Max Shippee) never told anyone that crucial information, but thankfully Jack and Ashley (Eileen Davidson) insisted on tests that allowed them to know why their mother has been acting so erratically.
It’s reasonable to believe that insurance investigators, Nick or both will discover clues that eventually tag Dina as responsible. The ubiquitous nature of video would seem a prime source to have documented her heretofore unknown arrival and departure at that location. External captured images from street view cameras, with wherever they are mounted, would seem plausible sources of evidence in this instance.

Jack’s availability may likely spark a fierce initial denial and later, subsequent defense, of Dina’s actions based upon her medical condition. To-date, Jack believed that his mother was upstairs, while he was downstairs in the Abbott mansion that night. As savvy soap fans can attest, recent dialogue about her year-old diagnosis factors directly into whatever level of legal responsibility she’ll be held to account for regarding the fire.
