The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Hilary Wants To Go Legit – A New Positive Direction?

Hilary’s (Mishael Morgan) considered idea is a good one on ‘The Young and the Restless’. She learned that attacking power players in Genoa City isn’t worth the effort and doesn’t attract positive results. Rather than continuing to air everyone’s petty grievances, Hilary wants GC Buzz to be seen as a media advocate.

Devon (Bryton James) repeatedly told his then-wife that she would be better off by changing the website and connected TV show into a sincere news outlet. Hilary placated Devon at the time, but never truly embraced his wisdom. Instead, one of Fleetwood Mac’s classic tunes (‘Go Your Own Way’) became her theme song.

Winning GC Buzz in the divorce settlement came as a surprise. Devon and many viewers thought Hilary would demand more. When she didn’t her eventual internal transformation may have been telegraphed.

A recent incident with Vickie (Amelia Heinle) served to adjust Hilary’s morality. Miss Newman was someone she came to see as a potential friend. As Y&R viewers know, Hilary doesn’t have any, which is sad.

Vickie’s public humiliation impacted Hilary’s view of herself. That’s why Hillary offered Vickie a contract as part of coming interview. Steps like this one will help Miss Curtis slowly regain person-by-person. She’s already earned Nick’s (Joshua Morrow) respect.

Mal Young would be wise to have his writing team continue to steer Hilary in a positive direction. Possibly and hopefully, that’s what’s starting to happen. Morgan is a solid actor who has often displayed range that would easily allow Hilary to evolve beyond being a gossip monger and shallow, self-involved person.

Enabling GC Buzz to practice actual journalism would also likely lead to an expansion of Hilary’s personal world. She’s alienated the Winters’ clan. So rather than rehashing redemption storylines, it would be intriguing to see a new family be built around this character. Maybe Jordan (Darnell Kirkwood) will help that to happen.

Hilary has often caused her own downfall. While an image change won’t be easy, a consistent push should eventually lead to widespread respect.
