The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Hilary Becomes Option For Cane – Sam Needs a Mother

Hilary (Mishael Morgan) has been called by many names on ‘The Young and the Restless’. But none of them has been mother. Yet, if her relationship with Cane (Daniel Goddard) develops she could become Sam’s stepmother.

Yes, that noise readers heard, or participated in causing, was the drone of a large crowd across the soap world screaming “No!” in unison. ‘Lane’ fans are feeling queasy right now because they know evolving plot points make the potential of Hilary and Cane joining plausible.

Y&R viewers have taken notice to the variety of scenes that have placed Hilary and Cane in each other’s company. Fellow commiserators, they began sharing information when Jordan (Darnell Kirkwood) was infatuated with Lily (Christel Khalil). Then, as the summer flowed into fall, the hint of an actual friendship blossomed.

Consider current factors objectively. Hilary has no man following her around, as Jordan and Devon (Bryton James) did, and Cane isn’t sure if Lily is interested in salvaging their marriage.

Sam will be hospitalized for the next few weeks, meaning that Cane will be alone leading into Christmas. That’s plenty of time for Mr. Ashby and Ms. Curtis to connect, one-on-one at the Chancellor mansion.

Hilary saw Lily run off after holding Sam. Cane allowed Hilary to do the same and she instantly took to Juliet’s (Laur Allen) son. That scene opened a plot point that can be repeated, as Cane referenced Hilary as a potential baby sitter.

There’s no doubt that Lily still loves Cane, as she’s acknowledged many times since their separation and did so again this week. However, if Mrs. Ashby drags her feet regarding reconciliation the next logical romantic choice would be Hilary, as incredible as that may seem.

Yes, the potential for romance will cause Hilary’s many detractors to respond in disgust. But that’s exactly the type of reaction soaps count on to draw interest. Pairing ‘Hane’ would surely cause quite a stir, both in Genoa City and within the world of observers on the other side of the screen.
